Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, a High Hike representative will be there for your warm welcome and help you to transfer to the hotel. In free time you can either take rest or can walk around Thamel. O/N.
Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing
Take your breakfast and get ready for a guided full day sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley. The sightseeing program is focused to introduce some highlights of UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu such as Kathmandu Durbar square, Swoyambhunath ,also known as “Monkey Temple”, Pashupatinath –temple of Lord Shiva and Bouddhanath; a Buddhist place. After sightseeing evening will be for trek briefing and preparation of things per need.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding.(2610m.):
Take 30 minutes scenic flight to Lukla. In Lukla meet the remaining crews and get a short trek brief then start trekking for Phakding. The trail from Lukla follows Dudhkoshi River and crossing several Sherpa villages reaches Phakding for overnight. O/N.
Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar.(3445m.)
Take early breakfast and get ready to trek up to Namche Bazar. From Phakding the trail via Dudh Koshi River through Sagarmatha National Park where we may have chance to encounter with some wildlife. It takes 7 hours to reach Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is the main trading center of Khumbu region and also known as Sherpa Capital. O/N.
Day 5:Namche Bazaar. (3445 m.)
Rest day at Namche Bazar. Walking up to Thame, visiting local museum or exploration of Namche Bazar itself are the activities for the day. Stay overnight at hotel. O/N.
Day 6 :Dole.(4040m.)
The ascending trail from Namche Bazar first takes us to Kyanjuma Village. Kyanjuma is a beautiful place which offers fabulous views of Amadablam, Thamserku and Katenga. Then a steep up trail head towards Mong La. Mong La has historical Chorten and it also offers superp views of snowcapped mountains. From there the trail descends down to Dole for overnight. We stay overnight at a teahouse O/N.
From Dole the trail is steep in places as it passes through Lhabarma and Luza along the side of the valley, high above the river through scrub junipers until we cross the sandy spurs to Machhermo (4410m). It was here in 1974 that a yeti was reported to have attacked a sherpa and killed three yaks! We should get to Marchhermo by lunchtime and in the afternoon there is time for an acclimatization walk up onto the ridge behind the lodge for amazing views of Thamserku. O/N.
We start our day with climbing a ridge for an excellent views down the valley to Kangtaiga. The trails then pass Pangkha and descends down to Dudhkoshi river bank. Then steeps up and follows a the valley where we get first lake Longpongo.
After walking some distance we get second lake Taboche Tsho and a little ahead we will find third lake, where the hidden Gokyo Valley stands. Enjoy exploring wonderful valley with beautiful lakes. Overnight at hotel.
Early morning hike up to Gokyo Ri which lies above Gokyo Village. It is steep up 3-4 hours walk to Gokyo Ri but the panoramic views of mountains including Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Chagtse, Pumori, Thamserku, K 43, Kangtega, and Kusum Kanguru will justify its worth. After enjoying awe inspiring views at Gokyo ri we trek down to Gokyo. After breakfast we trek to Thangnak for overnight. O/N.
Day 10: Thangnak-Cho La pass and Dzongla.(4830m.):
Day to pass Cho La(5330m).With early start we climb up from Tangnak and approach a large boulder field. Beyond this ancient moraine, the climb to the pass is steep in places, involving some easy scrambling. The upper part of the route can be snow covered, particularly after November. The challenging pass offers some stunning views of including an unusual aspect of Ama Dablam.
The descent from the pass involves the crossing of a small glacier (usually snow covered) which is fairly straightforward. We descend steeply to the grazing pastures below, the trail becoming more defined as we approach Dzongla (4830m), where we stay tonight in a very small basic lodge.
From Dzongla, we descent down through easy trail and short ascent takes us to the foot of the Awi Peak which offers the stunning views of Chalotse and Twaoche across the valley. From there the trail descent towards the main trail which lead us to Labuche for overnight.
Day 12:Gorak Shep.(5180m.)
Start early morning, it is quite long walking day (8-9 hours) but a worthwhile one. From Labuche, we first get to Gorakshep (lunch-place), then hike up to Everest Base Camp. Spend some times in base camp of highest mountain, click some memories and leave your footprints. After then we will trek back to Gorakshep. Gorakshep itself offers the magnificent views of Himalayas. O/N
Early morning before sunrise hike up to Kalapathar to catch the sunrise views kissing Everest and neighboring mountains. Kalapathar is the best view point of Nepal which offers breathtaking views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and more peaks. Then trek back to Gorakshep have breakfast and start trek to Dingboche.
The trail descends through Imja valley and passes several Sherpa villages of Somare and Pangboche. From there we walk through dense pine and rhododendron forest and reach Tengboche. Tengboche is popular for Tengboche Monastery which is the largest monastery of Khumbu Region . Stay overnight at Tengboche.
From Tengboche the trail first descent down to Phungithanga. The stunning views of Mount Ama Dablamm and Khangeta mountains.Tengboche monastery also in our glimpse along the way. We then cross Namche Bazar and take steep down trail to Monju where we stay overnight.
Trek same way back to Lukla but this time it will a descending trail. Reach Lukla. In evening join a farewell dinner with crews and say goodbye to Sherpas and Porters. O/N.
With early morning flight come back to Kathmandu. Take good rest at hotel. In evening do some last minutes shopping. At night join farewell dinner organize by High Hike Team. O/N.
Day 18: Departure Day:
A High Hike representative you escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for catching returning flight. We hope to see you again in Nepal. Namaste..
